This is known as the flow state. It often happens naturally while doing a sport or a creative activity, but under the right conditions, you can create a flow state for just about any activity — something relaxing (reading a book), boring (doing housework) or challenging (taking on that task that seems impossible).

Get really specific about what you want to do and for how long. This helps to set realistic expectations and time boundaries so that you don’t feel too overwhelmed by the task.
👉 Warning! If you don’t decide how you specifically want to spend your time, you become vulnerable to distraction, rabbit holes, and multitasking.
It turns out that the vibes really matter! What do you need to be comfortable during the activity? Anticipate your needs ahead of time to avoid breaking your focus — like a beverage, headphones, and a good playlist.
👉 If you skip this step, your brain will begin looking for comfort, which usually leads to distraction on your phone; and while we’re on the subject…
It’s not you, it’s your phone! This is arguably the most important (and difficult) element of the Flow State Formula.
👉 Use Do Not Disturb, put your phone out of your sight, and take this step seriously.
This step sets the process in motion. The first 5-15 minutes will be uncomfortable, so anticipate resistance while your brain and body settle into a focused state.
👉 Most people give up before you get to the good stuff, so stay the course.
If possible, use a timer that doesn’t involve your phone! We love this one
Whenever you’re feeling resistance toward something you want or have to do, this formula will help you get into the right headspace to focus.
